BellamyBellamy Young, born Amy Maria Young on 19 February 1970, ([1]) was an American actor, director, and performer best famous for her performance as Melody "Mellie", Grant the character in ABC's drama Scandal (2012)-2018. Her performance was so successful that she got the Critics' choice Television Award for the Best Supporting Actress in the Drama Series in 2014. Also, she was the main character in Fox's Prodigal Son (1919-2021). Young started her career as an actor through theatre. In 1997, Young made her Broadway debut in the role of Mary in the cast of The Life. Also, she performed Off-Broadway in Stephensondheim's musical Merrily We Roll Along (1994), and Randy Newman's Faust (1995-1996). Her first appearance on television in 1995 in the role of The Dr. Courtney Evans, in an ongoing role in the NBC soap opera Another World. She was a part of two seasons on Law & Order, 1997 and 1998. Her debut film came in 1999 as the role of the crime thriller Black and White. Later, she appeared in other independent films. The mid-2000s saw her began appearing on a variety of comedy and drama television shows, such as The Drew Carey Show and The X Files. From 2000 to the year 2011, Young was a regular guest on more than 30 appearances on television programs.
