Her sister Adria were adopted by Ronald and Nellie Biles. Simone started to develop an interest in gymnastics as an infant on a field trip to school to Bannon Gymnastix. Aimee Borman was her coach for the following 11 years. Biles took home a medal in vault, and also a medal in floor during the 2010 Women's Junior Olympic National Championships. The year 2011 saw her begin competing in elite levels of competition. Within less than two years, she had become the best in her sport. Her consistency, her vivacious nature and high degree of difficulty in her four events -- vault uneven bars balance beam floor exercise and floor exercise -- set her above the others.
